Spring in Seattle has slowly started to heat up, with three days to hit near 70 degrees this week. This follows one of the coldest winters recorded in the city’s history.

“According to the National Weather Service’s top forecasting aid, the National Blend of Models, temperatures at SeaTac could surge to 71 degrees on Tuesday before falling back into the 60s,” said Cliff Moss, a professor of atmospheric science at University of Washington.

The heat won’t last long though, as rain is expected to come back this Thursday.

Average rainfall for the city of Seattle is just an inch and a half for June, but this year, the city has already received 1.03” of rain in the first five days of the month.

Continuing the unseasonably wet spring, the city is expected to resume its rainy reputation through the weekend with more than an inch of rain expected between Thursday and Friday.

After experiencing some of the coldest temperatures on record in spring, the city’s erratic weather is likely to continue.

After last summers extreme heat wave, with many parts of King County experiencing weather up to 108 degrees
