Why Seattle’s sunrise was so colorful on Election Day

If you woke up early enough Tuesday morning, you were greeted with a beautiful sunrise and bright reddish sky.
The phenomenon was caused by sunlight reflecting in the atmosphere and scattering through clouds with moisture in them, KIRO 7 Meteorologist Nick Allard says.
“The higher the moisture content the redder it will be,” Allard told Seattle’s Morning News.
That’s why if you have blue skies the day before and red sky the next morning, “sailors take warning,” he added.
Essentially, more rain is in our future.
After a mostly dry Tuesday, Allard says there is a 50 percent chance of rain on Wednesday. That trend continues into the weekend and maybe even into next week.
