Prop. 1 — “Replacement for Educational Programs and Operations Levy” — is a three-year, $815 million replacement levy that covers educational and operations programs that are either not funded by the state, or not fully-funded by the state, including everything from art and extracurricular programs to transportation, and special education.

In initial results, voters have approved Prop. 1 by 66 percent to 34 percent.

Prop. 2 — “Capital Levy – $1.4 billion” — is a six-year levy that would cover capital projects, including earthquake and other safety improvements at 16 schools – as well as money for maintenance projects at dozens of other schools and security enhancements at all schools in the district.

In initial results, voters have approved Prop. 2 by 68 percent to 32 percent.

Both of Renton’s school levies are passing, as well as all school levies and bonds in Pierce County.
