Sixth flu death reported in Snohomish County

A sixth Snohomish County resident has died in what is now the worst flu season since 2009.
The Everett Herald reports the latest death is an elderly Everett man who died Jan. 24.
Statewide, 28 people have now died from the flu.
“The sad result of flu, often, is death, especially for certain groups of people and older people are among them,” said Health Department spokesman Donn Moyer.
The U.S. is about halfway through this flu season, and “it’s shaping up to be a worse-than-average season” and a bad one for the elderly, said Dr. Thomas Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
