Snohomish County detectives have tracked down and arrested a man accused of raping an 8-year-old girl and infecting her with the herpes virus.

The girl’s mother reported the crime last June, but the 40-year-old suspect disappeared before detectives could arrest him.

The Snohomish County Violent Offender Task Force has been tracking him since them, and recently began narrowing down their search.

“They spent a few days following up on different leads and different addresses where they might be at,” said spokesperson Shari Ireton.

The task force tracked him to his former employer’s place of business and arrested him on an outstanding warrant for 2nd degree rape of a child.
