Seattle police have arrested a suspect in connection with a suitcase of human remains found in West Seattle in mid June.

The suspect, a 62-year-old man, was arrested Wednesday afternoon at his residence in Burien. He has since been interviewed by police and booked into King County Jail.

In late June, SPD homicide detectives identified the remains of two individuals found near the water in the 1100 block of Alki Avenue Southwest as a 27-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman. The two were a couple who had been dating for eight years.

Both victims were from south King County, and were reportedly shot to death.

The suitcase containing the remains was originally found washed up at Duwamish Head by a group of teenagers on a scavenger hunt.
