Police arrested a man for DUI after after state troopers discovered him unconscious in a stalled car on I-5 near NE 50th before the Friday afternoon commute.

“The vehicle was traveling on I-5 and came to stop,” said Trooper Rick Johnson. “Troopers got there and the male driver — the only person in the vehicle — was unconscious and had a needle in his arm.”

Johnson says medics administered Narcan on the 32-year-old to keep him from overdosing on heroin. He says the driver had a faint pulse as they monitored him on the way to the hospital at the University of Washington.

No other injuries or related crashes were reported.
