The first test flight of a 787 carrying Boeing’s upgraded battery system is expected to take off from Paine Field on Tuesday.

A Dreamliner built for LOT Polish Airways will demonstrate the new system’s performance for the FAA.

Boeing wants to complete all of their test flights by the end of this month.

G-2 Solutions analyst Michel Merluzeau told KING 5 the plane could remain grounded for sometime longer.

“The variable in the return to flight equation is really going to be the FAA and how much they’re going to require from Boeing before they say, ‘we’re comfortable with this, you guys can go back to flight,'” said Merluzeau.

Merluzeau said he expects the Dreamliners to be in the air again by summer.

KIRO Radio’s Frank Shiers contributed to this report.
