WSDOT won’t waive 520 tolls for Blue Angels flights

When the Blue Angels make their daily appearances at
Seafair this weekend, the I-90 floating bridge will be
completely shut down. But, that doesn’t mean you’ll get a
discount on the 520 bridge.
The Washington State Department of Transportation Tolling
Director says whether I-90 is open or closed, the tolls
will be the same on the 520 bridge.
“It’s only in a very rare case wherefore some reason […]
law enforcement actually force you to take the bridge,
that’s the only time that we waive the toll,” says Patty
Rubstello.
If you do not want to pay the toll, WSDOT recommends you
find another way around or drive at another time.
“They’re not forced to take the toll bridge, they can take
522, they can drive around, they can wait. We’re not
forcing people,” WSDOT spokesperson Jamie Holter told the Dori Monson Show.
“We’re not running after them going ‘Take this bridge,
take this bridge.'”
The I-90 bridge will be closed Thursday from 9:45 a.m. to
noon and 1:15 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Friday from 12:45 p.m. to
2:40 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 12:45 p.m. to 2:40
p.m. Altogether, the bridge will be closed for about
eight hours.
Did WSDOT ever consider suspending the 520 tolls?
“No, there hasn’t been any discussion about that,” says
Rubstello.
