A Snohomish County court is charging a 17-year-old as an adult for shooting his friend over an Xbox.

The Everett Herald reports that Eamon Jouett, charged with first degree assault, allegedly engaged in a shootout with a roommate over accusations of stolen money and an Xbox.

Police responded to the Everett shooting around 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 17 at a home near W. Mukilteo Boulevard. A 20-year-old man moved into a house with Jouett that day. The two injected heroin before falling asleep. When they awoke, the 20-year-old accused Jouett of stealing $2,000 cash and his Xbox.

Jouett responded to his roommate’s allegations by arming himself with an assault rifle and opening fire. His roommate fired back with his own firearm. Jouett was shot in the leg. His roommate received a minor injury to his chest. Bullets went through his jacket as he fled the scene. The roommate soon returned, however, and attempted to get inside the apartment by shooting the lock off the front door. The two then exchanged fire through the door.

The report on the incident notes that bullet holes were found throughout the home.

Jouett has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is expected to be in court in February. It is not his first run-in with the law. The Herald reports that he has previous interactions with police involving burglary, robbery and weapons charges. Drugs were reportedly a factor in those incidents as well.
