Rain turned to snow: Summit at Snoqualmie opens Tuesday after delays

The Summit at Snoqualmie has announced its official opening day for the 2025-2026 ski season at Summit West will be on Tuesday.
After receiving 22 inches of snow since Thursday, the mountain will be open with limited operations from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, The Summit announced.

Summit West had a delayed opening day due to the heavy rainfall in the region over the past few weeks, but the rain has turned to snow, and the wait is finally over.
“With a solid base forming and a favorable forecast of more snow this week, we can finally make the announcement you’ve been waiting for,” The Summit at Snoqualmie stated. “We can’t wait to get you back on the snow at your home mountain!”
Skiers and snowboarders should expect lifts and terrain to be very limited on opening day due to the current snow coverage conditions.
The resort currently expects to have Pacific Crest and the Upper Carpet running, with more lifts slated to be opened in the coming days.
Precautions were noted on The Summit’s website, indicating that snow depth is still improving, but snow coverage remains thin on the mountain.
“Always look ahead, moderate your speed, and watch for marked and unmarked hazards, including abrupt depressions and openings in the snowpack,” The Summit stated.
In celebration of the Summit West opening, a “First Chair Prize” will be given to the first four people in line at Pacific Crest.

The resort will only run Summit West until Summit Central has enough coverage to open. Night skiing will be dependent on improved snow coverage due to the difficulty of seeing hazards at night.
If it continues to snow throughout the week, night skiing at Summit West may be open as soon as this weekend.
Alpental still needs to have a couple more feet of snow, and there is currently no estimated timeline for its opening.
Summit East and Nordic will not open by the initially planned Dec. 26 opening date. The opening is to be determined and will take place as soon as there is enough snow.
The Tubing Park opening date is still to be determined.
