Dori: Climate change alarmists use entirely phony arguments

The money is pouring in for an election still to come, and that is the statewide carbon tax which will be on the ballot in November. It’s going to be a big money battlefield, transferring your dollars to the cronies and phonies screaming about climate change. If this thing passes, the average family would see a projected $400 a year in tax increases.

I have become certain that man plays some role in climate change, but the whole cult of climate change is a scam. So here’s what I have done for you today; I have decided to find the most notorious climate change alarmists from the past 30 years.

Thirty years ago, two scientists, James Hansen and Michael Oppenheimer, had dire predictions of global warming, sea level rise, and massive deaths as a result. There’s only one problem — with industrialization, climate-related deaths have plummeted in the last 30 years. It turns out that industrialization and prosperity have led to the longest lifespans in human history.

When they published that paper in 1988, they predicted that the planet would warm by six degrees. Actually, the climate has warmed less than one degree, and has been stuck in the same place for the past six years (The scientists call this the “warming hiatus”). Sea levels have stayed at about the same as well.

In his film “An Inconvenient Truth,” Al Gore predicted that sea levels would rise 20 feet. He prophesied that unless the world massively reduced greenhouse gas emissions, we would hit the point of no return.

The U.N. said in the 1980s that if global warming were not checked by 2000, entire countries would be washed away.

Former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said in 2009 that we had 50 days to save the planet.

We know that all of these predictions in the past have been nothing but phony. Oh, but anyone who said that at the time was called a denier, akin to a Holocaust denier.

Here’s what I’ve talked about a lot — this is all about money. We’re going to get away from carbon-powered things in the next 20 years. Cars are going to be mostly electric. The lifespan of mainly-carbon-based transportation on this planet will end up being maybe 120 years, from 1920 to 2040. That’s one 45-millionth of the lifespan of the planet.

Remember when Dow Constantine’s management failure led to 250 million gallons of raw sewage being dumped into the Sound? And then a couple of months ago they reported that the Sound cleaned itself and the mistake did no lasting harm. When it comes to a sick whale, we have to stop all commercial and recreational fishing. Yet when King County pours a quarter-billion gallons of raw sewage into the water, the resilience of the Puget Sound overcomes the King County bureaucrats. It’s just such hypocrisy.

Look at the wildfires that are everywhere, some that have started by lightning, the smoke pouring out. But we have to tax Steve in Stanwood $400 a year because he wants to keep his house warm in the winter. If Sheila in Fife drives her Corolla to work in South Seattle, we’ve got to tax her. I guess the planet is only resilient when bureaucrats pollute it.

An RV downtown Seattle was in a standoff with a SWAT team, and then either caught on fire or was set on fire by the resident. The Seattle City Council allows RVs all around the city. If they catch on fire and pour black smoke into the atmosphere, that’s just the cost of allowing the RVs to sit everywhere. That’s the de-policing of Seattle.

It’s so clearly a money-grab. Jay Inslee flies on a jet to Europe for these climate change conferences, and his climate czar flies from Europe to here. They don’t believe their own words.

If I truly believed that climate change was the greatest threat to mankind, I would live like an Amish person. I would bring my horse and buggy to work. Although then I would get fined for the methane released by my horse pooping in the street.
