Dori Monson’s Feedback Friday: Dori’s not appropriate for kids?

Dori’s sarcasm is not G-rated

First of all, I love your show. I fell in love with your excellent storytelling and your expertise with words. I get teased by my friends and husband because I listen to and talk about you and the show constantly. As a home health physical therapist, I get to listen every day on my way from patient to patient, and have listened for many years. If I miss a show, I go back and listen to the podcast and my kids get to hear your show.

Over the past several months, I have noticed a feeling of embarrassment or a desire to turn the show off —  especially with with my kids — when your sarcastic, kind of mean tone comes out. Usually you are saying something about Jay Inslee or the city council, “the grandma with the nose ring, how edgy.” I am embarrassed because I don’t want my kids to think that I like hearing people talk that way or that I would talk that way. I want them to hear your positive stories about the PLU Attaboy football coach, the World War II vet raising the 12th man flag, Ben Malcomson’s story, the St. Jude kiddo who called the Seahawks pick, anything Pete Carroll, the Manly Mondays coach. Those are very valuable things for young kids — and everyone — to hear, and you are so good at finding and communicating those things. Thank you so much for including those types of stories in your show; it is the biggest reason why I love your show so much.

I am a tender-hearted person like you and am very touched by inspirational and heartwarming stories. We need more of that in the world, and less sarcasm and cynicism, in my opinion. Overall, I just want you to know that the uplifting/touching stories and the inspirational spin that you put on everything is very much appreciated and I hope it continues. Thank you!

Tired of divisive rhetoric and name-calling

I had to puke a little when I heard Dori complain about “less than truthful headlines.” After all, this is the same divisive hack who says, “Liberals are suffering from mental illness.” I have listened to Dori for the better part of a decade, but I continually find his escalating, divisive rhetoric to be intolerable and routinely turn him off these days. Also … please change the label on his show from news to opinion. He does not represent any kind of balance that we (should) equate to news.

Please never again

It was funny for a minute, but did get to be too much. I also tuned out (and I listen every day). While accurate as heck, it’s the exact reason that we don’t listen to those idiots. Great idea though, Dori!

Let’s delve deeper into Irod’s personality

It was fun. A more scripted monologue or satirical editorial at the front would rock. Who is Irod? Is he considering sexual reassignment? What are his/her pet peeves? Any serious liberal commando has a manifesto — I’d love to hear it.

The plants that will solve drive-by shootings

The only thing that will stop drive-by shootings is to plant cannabis. That should slow the shooters down, at least.

The raccoon deserved better

I will no longer listen to Dori. His insensitive comments regarding the raccoon on the boat were disturbing and unkind. All creatures, great and small, deserve respect and human kindness.

Ending on a positive note

Thank you again Dori for “telling it like it is” and not giving the old song and dance about, “My kid is a good kid.” Also, thank you for going after these prosecuting attorneys who let criminals go, even after they have been arrested 15 or more times. And I love it when you “tell it like it is” about our governor. You’re right, he has caused a bigger “carbon footprint” with his travels. Keep up the good work.
