Seattle Seahawks Head Coach Pete Carroll says he will not be fined again for not wearing a mask on the sidelines.

“Yeah, I’ve got multiple options here I’m working on,” Carroll said about his plan for Sunday. “And fortunately, I had a lot of help. So I’ve just got to do a better job. I didn’t do very well.”

Seahawks’ Pete Carroll handled COVID-19 in ‘true competitor fashion’

Carroll told KIRO Radio’s Dori Monson that he’s learned his lesson after being fined $100,000 for not wearing a mask during last week’s game against the Patriots.

“The fact of us wearing masks, you know, that’s a rule that somebody agreed to, so we’ve got to do what the rules say, and that’s basically what happened,” he said. “But we do feel safe though.”

The NFL fined Carroll individually, and fined the team $250,000. Also fined for not wearing masks in Week Two were the New Orleans Saints, Las Vegas Raiders, Denver Broncos, and the San Francisco 49ers, as well as the head coaches of each of those teams.

All teams and coaches received a reminder of the protocols for this season after the first week as a warning before fines were issued following the second week of games for those who still weren’t wearing a mask. Everyone on the sidelines, with the exception of players, is required to wear a mask, face shield, neck gaiter, or some kind of face covering during the game. The NFL has recommended that players, especially those who are inactive, wear masks on the sidelines as well, but it is not included as a requirement.
