Former Sonic’s Mercer Island home finally getting activity

Kevin Durant, arguably the brightest young star in the National Basketball Association, left town after a short stay when the Seattle Supersonics relocated to Oklahoma City.

His Mercer Island home, however, has just begun to move.

Durant, the second player selected in the June, 2007 NBA draft, spent $2,850,000 on a five-bedroom, five-bathroom, five-fireplace residence on Mercer Island’s First Hill a few months later, according to King County records.

The 5,910-square foot home, called “seriously elegant and classic” by longtime Eastside agent Elinor Smith, was listed for sale at $2,999,950 and now has a pending offer.

The home features two master suites, a gazebo spa surrounded by landscaped grounds, private patio areas, three-car garage, home theater, wine cellar, main floor guest suite plus den, and formal dining room.
