When you’ve got 14 kids, you do whatever you can to take
care of them all. In the case of Nadya Suleman, better
known as Octomom, it’s been a non-stop parade of money
making ventures, including stripping and starring in an
adult film. She’s coming to Tacoma Friday to promote the
production at the local Castle mega-store.

In an interview with Dori Monson, she
downplays the
picture and defends all she’s done since giving birth to
octuplets 3 1/2 years ago.

“I’m not in porn. It’s just very different than that, you
know. I did expose myself and it was just myself and I
didn’t touch anyone but myself, so it wasn’t exactly
porn,” she insists.

Suleman is candid about her struggles and everything she’s
done to make ends meet.

“People always say ‘get a real job.’ If I got a real job,
pretty much all of the money would go to day care. Number
two, I wouldn’t have any time with the kids. Number
three, I’d never be able to get to that level of where I
can generate enough revenue to buy them the house they
deserve and put half of them in medical school. You gotta
make the bucks.”

Suleman says the stripping gig was a one-time thing, but
she tells Dori she’s launching a singing career, along
with signing on as spokeswoman for a company that offers
emergency loans to people in serious financial trouble.

“Who is better able to endorse a loan that’s designed to
help someone in emergencies? Me. I’m in there,” she
tells an incredulous Dori.

“Who hasn’t been there, really? One wise person once said
every successful person has a painful story. Accept the
pain and success will follow.”

Suleman also defends a new fundraising website her manager
set up to raise money to buy a new house. The goal is
$150,000. So far its only raised $1,995.

“It’s about moving forward and doing the best I possibly
can for these kids and they deserve the best life
possible. All children do.”

Suleman insists she never set out to gain celebrity and is
just trying to do the best she can.

“I don’t wallow in my pit. I refuse because I take full
responsibility for my choices.”

And as she swings through town to push “Octomom Home
Alone,” she says meeting all the people that turn out to
her appearances have turned out to be a highlight of her
life.

“I’m really shocked and surprised how many supporters,
positive people there are out there and I’m very, very
grateful for them.”
