Scott McClellan Makes Axis of Evil List

The latest reaction to Scott McClellan’s book (concluding that President Bush used propaganda to sell an unnecessary war) comes from former WH Press Secretary Ari Fleischer who told CBS that the book left him “heartbroken”.
It “didn’t make any sense.” McClellan didn’t sound like himself,” Fleischer said.
Of course not. That’s what happens when someone finally unplugs himself from the Matrix.
It will be interesting to see how long it takes for the Bush people to reveal that McClellan was in fact kidnapped by anti-American revolutionaries (probably from the Center for American Progress) and injected with a chip near his auditory nerve tuned to signals from Keith Olbermann.
My guess is they’ll send Jack Bauer to bite it out with his incisors — but the trauma caused by McClellan’s realization that he betrayed the monarchy will lead to an insanity that renders him radioactive to cable TV, and doom him to the same obscurity now enjoyed by Richard Clarke, Paul O’Neill, and others who thought they could unplug themselves from the Matrix and live.
Remember when the US government employed people like Elliot Richardson and William Ruckleshaus who would resign rather than scrape and bow before a president who would be king? Remember when Congress included people who would impeach a president for lying about collateral DNA? Remember when propaganda was something only the USSR did? Remember when voters were way too smart to be snowed by empty calls to patriotism? Me neither.
