Steve Jobs is dead. Long live Steve Jobs.

Steve Jobs has finally lost his battle with cancer. It’s not unexpected. The only way one can imagine Jobs giving up his work in his beloved company was if the battle was near an end, and he knew he was going to lose.

I find Steve Jobs inspirational. He was a driven, tough, unflappable competitor. He made computers and phones and programs that made millions of people more productive, more capable, and more entertained. He provided employment to thousands, and forced his competitors to be better. And when he was hit with knowledge of his own mortality, he didn’t give up– he waged war for his health and his company.

Steve Jobs is dead. Long live the American spirit of Steve Jobs.
