Unlike Seattle, A-Rod scores with N.Y. view condo

Alex Rodriquez did not purchase a home in the Puget Sound area during in his years with the Seattle Mariners.

While there were many sightings of the star shortstop in different neighborhoods, he typically rented during the baseball months at the Harbor Steps, a high-rise apartment complex near the Seattle waterfront.

Had A-Rod purchased a penthouse unit in one of the better high-rises during his 1994 rookie season, the condo could easily have doubled in value by the time he left the club in 2000 – boom times for property throughout the area.

Perhaps Rodriquez learned a lesson regarding the possibilities of view property. He recently signed a deal to flip his 3,585-square foot condo on New York’s Upper West Side with sweeping views of the Hudson River and George Washington Bridge.

The 5-bedroom, 5.5-bath unit was listed for sale for $8 million, less than a year after the Yankee infielder purchased it for $5.5 million.

According to the listing, the apartment includes Warhol prints of Marilyn Monroe in an entry-hallway, and white wood floors and white walls and ceilings.
