An atmospheric river is drenching California, causing flooding but also creating perfect barrel swells for surfers. It’s only *really bad* if no one’s out there.

Jack Stine, former resident Californian, elucidates for Spike O’Neill and the rest of our peanut gallery (Jacob, Laura) the culture of surfing storms, building (and then rebuilding) right up to the coastline, and of course, draining massive reservoirs and then complaining about drought.

Tune in with Jack and Spike live on KIRO Newsradio 97.3 FM, or catch some non-weather related chat with us on our daily podcast: https://mynorthwest.com/category/jack-and-spike/
