Early voter counts indicate that Cantwell is leading Hutchison by 59 percent to 41 percent.
Cantwell initially drew ire from voters when she refused to debate her Republican opposition, before relenting and agreeing to a pair of debates in October.
Cantwell has represented Washington in the United States Senate since 2000, after serving in the House of Representatives between 1987 and 1995. Between 1995 and 1999, she worked in the private sector as vice president of marketing for Real Networks.
Hutchison’s resume outside of politics includes a career as a journalist for KIRO 7 where she received five Emmy Awards, a stint as the Chair of the Seattle Symphony, and a position as Chair of the Washington State Republican Party.
