Alex Jones is the Internet host who famously claimed the Sandy Hook shootings were staged to justify an attack on gun rights, and he’s now being sued by several of the Sandy Hook families.

As part of that lawsuit, he gave a three-hour video deposition. In it, he apologized.

“My opinions have been wrong,” said Jones. “But they were never wrong consciously to hurt people.”

He said his interest in conspiracy theories was rooted in the hypocrisy he witnessed in the town where he grew up, “watching the police deal drugs, and then conduct anti-drug programs at the school.”

According to him, that “shook” his trust in police.

As his audience grew, he said the trauma was worsened by the corporate media lying about him and his motives.

“I myself almost had like a form of psychosis where I basically thought everything was staged,” he continued.

A form of psychosis — as in losing contact with reality — which he then spread on the Internet, like so many other conspiracy theories.

It feels like a “Twilight Zone” episode, where we all wake up one day with the power to hear anyone’s thoughts — especially the most outrageous ones — and everyone is fascinated, until they slowly come to realize: It can’t be turned off.
