‘Suspicious package’ in Shoreline includes pet’s remains

May 31, 2016, 11:00 AM | Updated: 11:39 am

A “suspicious package” left on the steps of the Shoreline Police Department turned out to contain the remains of somebody’s pet.

The King County Sheriff’s Bomb Disposal Unit blew up the package in a controlled blast Tuesday morning, according to Detective Jason Houck.

After the package was destroyed, detectives found a note. The note, according to Houck, indicated that the person who left the package had broke into someone’s car. One thing they stole was the cremated remains of a pet, according to the note. The person felt “remorse.”

Houck says whoever left the note did not return any of the other items they took from the car. Investigators are looking at surveillance video to see if they can figure out who left the package.
