Ross: President Trump finds the perfect cast of ‘Socialists’

On Monday, four congresswomen — who were singled out by President Trump in that tweet suggesting they “go back to their own country” — held a brief news conference.

The four Democrats — including Reps. Ayanna Pressley, Rashida Tlaib, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Ilhan Omar — said they would pursue issues like education and health care, and would not be distracted by the president.

“This is a distraction and we should not take the bait,” Pressley said.

No need for a census, the info was there all along

Yet at the same time, they took the bait.

“So it is time for us to stop allowing this president to make a mockery out of our Constitution,” Omar said. “It is time for us to impeach this president.”

They were putting him on notice, but they also provided him with the ideal enemy for 2020.

On Sunday, Axios reported on a leaked internal Democratic poll showing that the word “socialist” turns off the swing voters who Democrats need to win. Two of these four women call themselves Democratic Socialists.

Even though they did not mention that word on Monday, my guess is that the president will mention it a lot, thereby setting up a simple, media-friendly story line – four angry Socialists pushing to impeach the one man who can defend capitalism.

President Trump is doing what he does best — casting a reality show. He has found four people who he knows can’t resist playing their part.
