Ross: Embroiled in controversy, Trump remains a hero to his base

The President kicked off his campaign with a rally in Orlando last night, and afterwards, CSPAN invited his supporters to call in.
US needs a commander-in-chief, not a cartoon character
“The reason I like him is there is no choreographed rehearsal. He is the real authentic deal,” one said.
With all the drama of the first term I was listening for any indication that his act might be wearing thin.
“He’s the only president I know of that really loves America,” said another.
That was Abigail in Colorado, and this is Mike in Missouri:
“You hear about hope — he’s looking out for the whole population. He’s not looking out for a few scattered branches who constantly complain about everything.”
Pat from Oklahoma likes the way Trump speaks his mind.
“And you know, a lot of time it may not be quite as polite as we would like, but a lot of times its just the dang truth.”
Does she think the nasty nicknames perhaps go too far?
“It doesn’t bother me because of the level of hatred and the level of attack that he’s under,” she said. “And I’ll tell you I don’t know any other politician who could have stood up to what he stood up to in the past two and a half years.”
Trump getting dirt from foreign sources cuts both ways
For these supporters, all the investigations have done is made Trump a hero.
It’s why Dolores in California just loves watching his rallies.
“Because everyone needs to know that we love him,” she pointed out.
All of which demonstrates why the last thing Nancy Pelosi wants to see is an impeachment.
