Watch Dori play pingpong to house families in need

Pingpong and philanthropy? It’s a winning combination at the annual No Child Sleeps Outside Celebrity Pingpong Tournament, organized by KTTH’s Saul Spady.
On Tuesday evening, you can head downtown to pingpong bar SPIN Seattle to watch local celebrities like KTTH’s Jason Rantz, Q13’s Brandi Kruse, and, rumor has it, a certain Ballard boy with a KIRO Radio talk show duke it out at the pingpong table.
“As a believer in smaller government, I also believe there is a moral responsibility to do as much as we can through private philanthropy,” Dori told Spady. “I love what you’re doing.”
All proceeds will benefit Spady’s annual six-week No Child Sleeps Outside campaign to raise $2 million for homeless families through Mary’s Place, a local nonprofit that houses families in need at eight shelters across King County.

“This is important to me and to my family at Dick’s Drive-In because we’ve always believed giving involves everybody,” Spady said.
Tickets to get in the door and watch the tournament are $15, and can be purchased here. Entrance in the initial tournament from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. is $50. The winner from that tournament will advance to the VIP game at 6 p.m.
If you’d like to bypass the qualifying rounds and advance straight to a game against Dori, a $1,000 donation will ensure you a spot across the pingpong table from him.
The event will bring together charitable-minded people of all political affiliations to share the common goals of ending homelessness and winning pingpong. Sen. Reuven Carlyle (D-Seattle) will play against Republican gubernatorial candidate Joshua Freed to start the evening.
“With an issue like family homelessness, I think we can all agree, we need to bring the families inside,” Spady said.
The event runs from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday at SPIN Seattle, located at 1511 Sixth Ave., between Pike and Pine Streets. If you can’t make it to the tournament, you can make an online donation to No Child Sleeps Outside here.
