Two teens were caught in Renton after allegedly attempting to highjack the car of a pizza delivery driver, highjacking a second vehicle, breaking into an apartment with a weapon, and leading police on a high-speed pursuit.

Renton Police said, at approximately 11:33 p.m. Aug. 10, they received reports of a pizza delivery driver who was robbed at gunpoint by two juveniles who also demanded his car. The two male suspects didn’t know how to drive a manual transmission, so instead stole a different vehicle at gunpoint.

At 11:51 p.m., police were investigating the carjacking when they got reports of a home invasion at a nearby apartment complex by two teens that matched the description of the suspects.

The suspects went to the home, entered the apartment through an open window, and stole several valuables while holding one child, who was a resident, at gunpoint, police say. They fled the scene in the car stolen earlier that night.

While on Petrovitsky Road, police saw the stolen vehicle moving quickly southbound. The vehicle was located a short time later, where it had crashed into a large storage barn on SE Carr Road. The structure had collapsed on top of the suspected stolen vehicle with the suspects barricading themselves inside the partially collapsed structure.

Officers ultimately breached the building and detained the subjects inside, who were both positively identified by the victims of the carjacking and the home invasion robbery.

The two juvenile suspects were booked into King County Juvenile Corrections on two charges of first-degree robbery, attempted auto theft, and first-degree burglary. Additional charges may follow.
