Get ready for another chance of snow overnight Friday as we’re in for a very cold 24 hours.

Meteorologist Cliff Mass told The Dori Monson Show, “We’re going to have a dry period for 24 hours. And then Friday night and Saturday morning, we have another chance of snow.

“We’ll have cold air in place and a frontal system will be coming in off the ocean,” Cliff said. “There will be snow on the Olympic Peninsula.”

The snow will start in Kitsap County. “And the models are mixed on this but Seattle may get a few inches out of it,” Cliff continues.

The snow will probably begin after 9 p.m. Friday night.

“Even if we get above freezing, we’ll just have snow and rain over the ice,” Ted Buehner, KIRO Newsradio meteorologist. “Now, here we are and the action has been in the south end. We are going to get into another scenario Friday. It will be kind of a repeat of Tuesday.”

Some of the coldest temperatures as of 4 a.m. Thursday were 27 in Arlington and Bellingham, 28 in Port Townsend, 29 in Bremerton, and 30 at Joint Base Lewis-McChord and Mount Vernon, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Highs will only get into the mid-30s for most of the area, with north wind making it feel colder. North, it will be breezy around Bellingham, starting off in the mid-20s and staying below freezing all day.

The Washington Department of Transortation (WSDOT) has reported multiple spin-outs and, remember, often plows don’t make the sideroads.

Make sure you check online for pass information before heading out. Chains are no longer required on Highway 18 over Tiger Mountain.

Often, as the snow is cleared or melts, this is the time most injuries happen, so be careful, NWS officials warn.

The National Weather Service in Seattle says we’re most likely to see icy conditions in Snohomish County north. Thousands are still without power in Snohomish County.

“Friday will start out drier, but rain/snow and wet snow will increase and will produce some more areas of accumulating snow,” said Nick Allard, KIRO 7 meteorologist.

“However, we’ll dry out Saturday morning and most of the weekend will be cool and mainly dry,” Nick reports. “I’ll continue to watch where this next round is going, especially once we get through the lingering snow showers and icy conditions this morning.”

It should be sunny and cold through the weekend.
