A 43-year-old man was fatally shot Monday morning at an apartment complex in Federal Way, the Federal Way Police Department reported.

The shooting happened around 7:30 a.m. at The Shores Apartments near Southwest 320th Street and Third Place Southwest.

“Despite life-saving efforts by responding officers and fire personnel, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene,” police stated in an email to KIRO Newsradio.

The man had been shot in the chest, the email said.

“Initial investigation indicates that the suspect, who fled the scene on foot, was known to the apartment’s occupants,” police said. ” K-9 track was initiated but was unsuccessful in locating the suspect.”
