A 29-year-old man was arrested Thursday in connection with the violent home invasion and robbery of Macklemore’s Capitol Hill home, the Seattle Police Department (SPD) announced.

On June 7 at approximately 12:45 a.m., SPD responded to reports of a burglary at a home in the East Precinct. A 22-year-old nanny working in Macklemore’s home was attacked with bear spray by two men who entered the residence through an unlocked door.

The two suspects stole thousands of dollars’ worth of personal items, including multiple Rolex watches, jewelry, and two championship rings for the Seattle Sounders’ MLS Cup victory and Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl title.

The nanny managed to escape to a neighboring home and call 911. The suspects had fled the Capitol Hill residence before SPD arrived.

SPD worked with detectives from the King County Sheriff’s Office and the Renton Police Department (RPD) to identify and apprehend suspects involved with various burglaries related to other high-profile athletes and celebrities in the region.

“It’s a pretty terrifying set of circumstances,” Casey McNerthney, director of communications with the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, said in June. “Anytime that you have a home burglary, it’s a pretty violating feeling. And what he was allegedly doing was going after pro athletes when they were out of town.”

On Aug. 21, the King County Valley SWAT Team conducted a search warrant on the 29-year-old suspect’s home in Renton. Law enforcement arrested him for a separate robbery warrant in Seattle. SPD noted detectives are expected to refer the criminal charges to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for the home invasion robbery in the next few days.

The investigation led police to a jewelry store in South Seattle, where an additional search warrant was served on Aug. 27. Detectives found various items stolen from the Capitol Hill residence, along with items from other local homes that had been burglarized recently.

In June, a Seattle man was charged with home burglaries of notable athletes, including Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodríguez, Mariners pitcher Luis Castillo, former Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman, and Seattle native Blake Snell, a pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Among the items seized from the jewelry store, detectives found items belonging to other high-profile celebrities in the area.

Detectives have asked anyone who may see any of their stolen items in the photographs below to contact the SPD Robbery Unit at (206) 684-5535. Proof of ownership will be required.
