A man with felony warrants was arrested for burglarizing his sister’s home and spraying her with bear mace on Friday night in Tacoma.

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) responded to reports of a burglary in Tacoma after the Tacoma Police Department requested assistance in locating and arresting the suspect, MCSO announced.

The two siblings were reportedly arguing over money, which led to the suspect spraying his sister with bear mace.

The suspect had a felony warrant from the Washington Department of Corrections for escaping community custody. Deputies found the suspect in his vehicle and initiated a traffic stop in the Timberlakes community.

The suspect attempted to flee from officers as a deputy opened the suspect’s driver-side door and commanded him to exit the vehicle.

The escape attempt continued as the suspect tried to get away by driving through the backyard of a nearby residence. An MCSO deputy stopped the suspect’s escape by pinning the vehicle at the front bumper.

Ultimately, MCSO arrested the suspect, and he was booked into the Mason County Jail for attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle in addition to his outstanding felony warrants.

MCSO thanked the Tacoma Police Department for its assistance in the investigation and noted that the information from the officers was pivotal in making the arrest.
