Throughout July, Sound Credit Union fundraised $20,000 for Seattle-based nonprofit Backpack Brigade, which provides weekend meals to children experiencing food insecurity. As part of the company’s annual employee fundraising campaign, the credit union’s employees worked with partners and local businesses to collect donations.
Chosen as the 2026 donation recipient, Backpack Brigade partners with more than 100 King County schools and distributes more than 5,000 hunger-relief bags each week. The organization currently serves approximately 2,800 children in the community, according to a press release.
“Sound Credit Union’s partnership is a profound investment in feeding 2,800 children in our community,” Nichelle Hilton, executive director of Backpack Brigade, said in the release. “Right here, right now. We’re so grateful to call them a partner, and part of the village it takes to make a difference in a child’s life.”
