Driver killed after stolen SUV slams into metro bus in Kent

A driver in a stolen SUV was killed Wednesday morning after crashing into the back of a King County Metro bus in Kent.
The crash happened around 7 a.m., according to the King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO).
“A stolen vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it collided into the rear of a King County Metro bus near the intersection of South 277th Street and 83rd Avenue South in Kent,” said KCSO Sergeant James Ryan.

High rate of speed a cause in the crash
Ryan said three people on the bus suffered minor injuries, while, unfortunately, the woman driving the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives with the King County Major Accident Reconstruction unit are still working to determine exactly what led up to the crash.
“It was certainly a high rate of speed, much, much higher than the posted speed,” Ryan said. “We’re unsure at this point as to the cause of the crash.”
Both vehicles were towed. No further details about the driver of the SUV have been released.
Investigators are looking into the history of the driver and the theft of the SUV.
