Yelm High School placed in precautionary lock down; no weapon found

Yelm High School was placed in lock down on Wednesday morning.

Students reported that a student made social media posts about a weapon. School officials and the Yelm Police Department searched the campus and didn’t find a weapon. The lock down was lifted at 10:20 a.m. and normal school operations resumed.

“Staff and students did a great job of first reporting the concern, and then following safety procedures,” the district said on its Facebook page, reiterating that the lock down was precautionary.
