17-year-old arrested for kidnapping minor in Bellevue, dumping victim in Kent

A 17-year-old male was arrested today in connection with a kidnapping and robbery in Bellevue last May, the Bellevue Police Department (BPD) announced.

On Aug. 20, BPD conducted a search warrant at the juvenile’s home in the 18600 block of N.E. 55th Way in Redmond and arrested the suspect.

BPD reported the kidnapping and robbery incident occurred on May 22, 2024 when the suspect lured another 17-year-old male victim to a park in Bellevue. Once the victim arrived at the park, he was met by the suspect, who was armed with a handgun and wearing a ski mask.

The victim was ultimately forced into the backseat of his own vehicle. The suspect allegedly drove to different locations and forced the victim to withdraw money from his credit cards. Later on, the suspects dropped the victim off in a rural area of North Bend.

The victim was able to make his way to a nearby residence and contact the King County Sheriff’s Office. BPD was added to the case and immediately began its investigation.

The search warrant carried out by BPD uncovered items that connected the suspect to the kidnapping and robbery incident in 2024. The 17-year-old was arrested for one count of kidnapping in the first degree and one count of robbery in the first degree.

BPD noted that the investigation remains underway, and new information will be available at a later time.
