Seattle Police detectives are looking for a suspect and a motive after a man was found dead with multiple puncture wounds in a Capitol Hill apartment Tuesday afternoon.

At approximately 4:10 p.m., A 911 caller alerted police to an unresponsive man in an apartment in the 1600 block of Melrose Avenue.

“Officers found a 39-year-old man with multiple puncture wounds,” said Seattle Police Detective Eric Muñoz. “The Seattle Fire Department arrived shortly thereafter and pronounced the victim deceased.”

Detective Munoz said investigators aren’t releasing what kind of puncture wounds to protect the integrity of the investigation. Not much more is known about what led to the incident.

The Seattle Fire Department responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. SPD cordoned off the area until homicide and crime scene investigation units could respond to process the scene.

The King County Medical Examiner took custody of the body, and their office will determine the cause, manner of death, and identity of the victim.

“No suspect information is known at this time, and the circumstances leading up to the homicide are now under investigation,” Detective Muñoz said.
