Seattle police are investigating a Friday morning carjacking and assault that left a woman with apparent stab wounds and a head injury in Fremont.

Around 9:15 a.m., a caller reported a nude woman covered in blood near N Market St. and Palatine Ave. N, according to the Seattle Police Department (SPD).

Seattle Fire Department medics were already treating the woman when officers arrived. Police said she appeared to have multiple stab wounds to her upper body and a head wound that she said was caused by being hit with a sledgehammer.

She was taken to Harborview Medical Center.

The woman told officers she had been partying with the suspect, a young woman, and three men in an apartment near the 900 block of N 39th St. early that morning.

The group left the apartment in the victim’s vehicle and traveled to an alley near the 4600 block of Palatine Ave. N, where she said the assault occurred. Nearby neighbors reported hearing screams coming from the vehicle.

Police later found the vehicle near Whitman Ave. N and N 39th Street with a bloody sledgehammer inside and the keys in the ignition. Officers seized the vehicle as evidence.

Police searched the area but did not locate the suspect or the three men. Detectives will conduct the follow-up investigation.
