As of midnight, police services in the City of North Bend are being contracted to the King County Sheriff’s Office.

The interlocal agreement was formalized last year.

Ed Hall, a former King County Deputy and current North Bend Police Chief, has been tapped to lead the department.

“I will eventually have a detective and 10 deputies, or officers, that are dedicated to the City of North Bend,” Chief Hall said.

Chief Ed Hall promises to keep crime low, maintain community safety

The Center Square reports expenditures by the sheriff’s office to police North Bend would total $7.31 million in the 2026-27 biennium, $6.7 million in 2028-29, and $7.11 million in 2030-31.

Chief Hall grew up in the area and said public safety, as one would expect, is his top priority.

“Keep crime low, keep people feeling safe, and just have a community where people can just go out, do as they please, and not be worried about the criminal element,” Chief Hall said.
