A 15-year-old boy was arrested in a homicide investigation stemming from an incident in Seattle’s Mount Baker neighborhood, according to a statement from the Seattle Police Department (SPD).

An updated post on the SPD’s SPD Blotter Tuesday, the teen was booked into the Judge Patricia H. Clark Children & and Family Justice Center, King County’s youth detention facility.

The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office (KCPAO) reported, the teen had his first appearance Tuesday afternoon. The KCPAO asked for the court to hold the teen in secure detention, which was also requested by the juvenile probation counselor.

The court found probable cause for murder in the second degree with a firearm enhancement and unlawful possession of a firearm in the second degree and ordered the teen to be held in secure detention.

On Sunday, the teen allegedly shot a 22-year-old man in the chest at least two times. The man later died from the injuries in a hospital, reported SPD.

The shooting occurred at 34th Avenue S. and Charleston Street in the Mount Baker neighborhood — a block east of Rainier Avenue.

Police quickly arrived just after 2 a.m., finding the man, in the stairwell of a building suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers tried giving him life-saving first aid, but he died later after being transported to Harborview Medical Center.
