Listen to Dave Ross Commentary: Another Twitter scandal
Another Twitter scandal– this time involving staffers for Congressmen Rick Larsen who decided to document an event they called December to Remember.
Their mission being to get drunk everyday at the office.
Which led to tweets such as this one, “My coworker just took a shot of Jack crouching behind my desk. We have unabashedly given up on just about all things work-related.”
And we’ve all been amazed how idiotic these staffers were for describing their drunkenness, and describing their boss as a selfish (bleep) hole…
But idiotic or not, these Tweets are some of the best I’ve ever read. Clear, compelling, culturally revealing!
Unlike most tweets, they actually answer Twitter’s original question –“What are you doing?”
In the case of these staffers — getting hammered, watching Nirvana videos on taxpayer time, calling the boss a selfish (bleep)hole.
… and this is the true power of Twitter: It has neutralized the Fifth Amendment. It has made an entire generation WANT to incriminate themselves.
In an economy where bosses are trying to figure out who to fire next, it’s has become an indispensable management resource.
And in this case, it’s ALSO a window into the effect of partisan politics: These were Democratic staffers — and since in our system the minority has no power, they had absolutely nothing important to do. No bills to write, no government waste to track down. In our system at any given time, hundreds of congressional staffers sit there waiting for the phone to ring…
