Even the High Priestess of Trumpism now feels betrayed

It’s starting to look like Donald Trump’s attempt to snuggle up to Hispanics by softening his immigration stand is backfiring and supporters are feeling betrayed.
“We thought we could move Mr. Trump to the center on immigration. We knew it was going to be a long shot,” Alfonso Aguilar said.
Aguilar is one of the Latino Conservatives who met with Trump last week. He now feels betrayed by Wednesday’s angry immigration speech in Arizona.

“At that point, I said that I’m withdrawing my support of Donald Trump,” he said.
And Republican consultant Leslie Sanchez says he’s not the only member of Trump’s Hispanic council who feels betrayed.
“They feel his approach in Mexico — they were doing high fives. But the speech in Phoenix was really … horrible, dishonest, tone deaf.”
And to make things worse, Trump’s non-Hispanic supporters were also feeling betrayed, especially the Conservative High Priestess of Trumpism, Ann Coulter — who was on the Powerhouse Politics podcast.
“Who does he think he’s winning over?” she asked. Everyone who already hates him can now accuse him of being a “flip-flopper,” she added.
Being the deal maker that he is, Trump tried to split the difference on CNN.
“I don’t think it’s a softening. I’ve heard people say it’s a hardening,” he said.
But it’s a tough sell. Because what got Trump the nomination was his politically incorrect promise to round up illegals and kick them out. It’s why his campaign, as he likes to say, is more than just a campaign, it’s a movement.
And Donald Trump is now its prisoner.
