Listen to Dave Ross’ Commentary: Has Michele Bachmann just won the election?

In South Carolina, Michele Bachmann made the most specific promise from any politician that I can remember:

“Under President Bachmann, you will see gasoline come down below $2 a gallon again. That will happen.”

Yes, we forget, gas was $1.79 when President Obama took office. $2 gas gets MY vote! I know, “Dave, that’s a totally selfish reason to vote for someone.”

But consider what $2 gas would mean.

You can’t get there by just removing the 18 cent federal gas tax.

You can try do it by drilling, but we don’t have enough easy oil left to affect market price.

You could take all the oil in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and dump THAT on the market, but that’s for a military emergency. Selling that would be practically TREASON.

So there’s only one way she can deliver on that promise. The price of oil right now is based…on fear. She has to reduce the fear.

Which means, what she is really promising:

“Under President Bachmann, you will see gasoline come down below $2 a gallon again.”

She’s promising peace in the Middle East!

She must have a secret peace plan! That’s got to be it. Because there’s only one other way to make the price of gas drop that fast.

The same reason it was $1.79 two years ago because we were in the process of losing 8.8 million jobs and people had no place to drive!

Promise me that’s not the plan.
