Herman: Neither Donald Trump nor Hillary Clinton will rescue us

It’s a tough time to be a conservative like KTTH’s Todd Herman. Herman despises Donald Trump’s rhetoric and believes Hillary Clinton receiving confidential information on her private email constitutes extreme negligence. But he also believes House Speaker Paul Ryan’s ensuing investigation of the FBI’s findings will do nothing and go nowhere.

Thus, Seattle Morning News’ Colleen O’Brian had to know: Where does that leave him and other conservatives — voting for Hillary or Trump?
“It leaves us in the same place,” he responded. “We’re not going to be rescued by D.C. It’s going to have to be the people who rescue us from this rampant corruption.”
So who is the people’s candidate?
“For president? Doesn’t matter,” he answered. “Both of them are bad, neither of them is going to change the corruption in D.C.”
So you don’t have a third-party candidate or another person in mind to save you?
“No, I don’t need to be saved from D.C.,” he said. “D.C. is lost for the foreseeable future. I think we need to focus on local elections, on town hall meetings, city councils, regional councils and start rebuilding from the ground up while we wait for D.C. to have its ultimate self-emulation some way or another.”
Does he expect any new revelations to help people make up their minds?
“No,” he answered. “This is still a race of who hates who least. It’s still a race of who can make the other person more loathsome than they. On the good side, we are watching history. We are watching the first race where it’s officially the person who can become least loathsome.”
Of course, while that may be true for the human world, Herman is forgetting one infamous election in Springfield.
