King County prosecutor sees ‘no evidence’ of remorse for shooting spree

Three people suspected of firing “hundreds of rounds” from rifles and handguns in the Seattle area have shown little or no remorse, King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg says.

“I think they look at it as a big joke,” he told Seattle’s Morning News.

Two males, ages 17 and 18, and one female, 23, are suspected of shooting at least 50 rounds at a home on South Juneau Street in Seattle on April 30. One of the suspects thought it was the home of a rival gang member — it turned out to be the home of a teacher.

The shooting spree continued on May 3, when the three were suspected of shooting more than two dozen rounds at an occupied vehicle on Holly Park Drive South. One suspect told police they believed the other driver may have been from another gang.

On May 4, the suspects allegedly targeted a couple who had driven past them, firing more than 40 rounds from an AK-47 and AR-15. A man inside the vehicle was hit in the chest and shoulder, a woman was injured by broken glass.

Additionally, police say they believe that on April 24, the 17-year-old and 23-year-old shot at a Kent family. The shooting was described as an attempted “thrill killing.”

Amazingly, nobody died during any of the shootings.

Each of the suspects are now being held on $1 million bail. They will be arraigned May 19 and face between five to 10 counts of first-degree assault. That could mean decades in prison, Satterberg says.

“It could have been you … could have been me,” he added.

In 30 years, Satterberg says he hasn’t seen more senseless violence targeting random targets.
