You know what cable news needs more of? Comedy analysis.

For their live broadcast of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, CNN had a panel of six analysts.
They had a presidential historian.
“It was raunchy.”
A conservative analyst.
“Yes, this was incredibly raunchy.”
A progressive analyst.
“Why do you hold a committee to a higher standard than you do the President of the United States?”
And three other analysts, plus two hosts! There was so much to say, and so many people saying it, that they were forced to talk all at once.
It was a little hard to understand, but that’s why they had the historian there to make sense of it all.
“The winner is the First Amendment…” he explained.
The First Amendment, which comedian Michelle Wolf celebrated by making everyone as uncomfortable as possible, especially the absent Mr. Trump.
“Mr. President, I don’t think you’re very rich,” she said.
It reminded me of when gun owners celebrated the Second Amendment by openly carrying their pistols into coffee shops.

But say what you want about Wolf, she got one thing right.
“You guys are obsessed with Trump,” she told reporters, asking if they once dated the president. “You pretend like you hate him, but I think you love him. You should at least give him some money because he doesn’t have any.”
