Mitt Romney fires back

Now there’s another recording.romney

“Because I actually believe in redistribution,” says a voice on a video, which Mitt Romney says goes straight to the entitlement philosophy that he’s running against.

It was October 1998, when a younger Barack Obama told a conference at Loyola University that conservatives were waging a propaganda campaign:

“A propaganda campaign against the possibility of government action,” says Obama.

And he admits government screws things up.

“Chicago Housing Authority has not been a model of good policy making. Neither necessarily have the Chicago Public Schools.”

But he still thinks it has a role in spreading the wealth.

“I think the trick is figuring out how do we structure government systems that facilitate some redistribution to make sure everybody’s got a shot.”

Of course Romney also believes that everybody should get a shot — right? By making sure Americans are free to use their talents, work hard, get a loan, start a company and create wealth, which is then distributed by the free market.

But one way or another, people need work, right? So how about this:

Suppose whoever wins stands up on Inauguration Day and says, “I trust the American Free Enterprise System so deeply, I am convinced that it can cut unemployment to 6 percent, without my interference, and so I hereby give the captains of industry one more year to get unemployment to 6 percent starting now.”

And may the best policy win.

Ross: Voters weren’t just voting for change, they were voting for a hormone

The more I read the post-election analysis, the more I’m convinced voters weren’t just voting for a change – they were voting for a hormone.
