A team of local Muslims will host an “Ask a Muslim” booth on Saturday near the rally held by a group of protesters who oppose Sharia law and have been considered anti-Muslim.

Aneelah Afzali, the founder and executive director of the American Muslim Empowerment Network, says she is disappointed these types of rallies are happening in the United States.

“In terms of response, we will do what the Quran tells us to do, which is repel evil with good and treat people with kindness,” Afzali told Seattle’s Morning News.

ACT for America is holding a rally Saturday at 10 a.m. at City Hall Plaza. Organizers say they’re taking a stand against Sharia, which, according to them, is incompatible with the U.S. Constitution. They say the rally is just about awareness.

A counter rally, which begins in Occidental Park at 9 a.m. and will move to the plaza, is being held in solidarity with Muslims.

Those at the booth will try to educate and counter “lies and misinformation” that is being spread by ACT, Afzali said.

ACT organizers say this is not about hate. Instead, they don’t want to see Sharia law imposed on people in America.

However, Afzali says there is a critical misunderstanding.
