The nation’s next Commander in Chief could very well be shrouded in controversy. When it comes to safety, KIRO Radio’s Dave Ross wants to know if citizens of the United States will still be able to rely on their military, no matter who is elected in the general election.

So Dave went to Lt. Gen. Stephen Lanza, of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, for the answer.

“Does it ever pass through your mind how you’d feel taking orders from, you know, whoever?” Dave asked.

“We support the Constitution of the United States,” Gen. Lanza explained. The military doesn’t support just one individual, he clarified.

That means no matter who becomes the next President, Gen. Lanza says citizens will be safe.

“I think the nation will always be in good hands,” he said. “I’m very proud of our military and how adaptive and agile they are.

“I’ve been in the military for over 30 years and have seen multiple transitions … and see our men and women doing what they need to do to support and defend the Constitution of the United States,” he added. “And I’m very proud of them.”
