People on the left are moving into the sixth stage of grief

We are coming to the end of week three of the Trump presidency and for people on the right, it has been an invigorating thrill ride. For people on left, I believe they are now just moving into the little-known sixth stage of grief.

The way the grieving process goes is denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance, Canada.

But I have found outbreaks of unity. For example, on CNN Senators Ted Cruz and Bernie Sanders came together, albeit briefly, during their health care debate.

“Insurance company profits have doubled under Obamacare,” Cruz said.

“He’s right. Ted, let’s work together on a Medicare for all single-payer system,” Bernie responded.

And then just yesterday on Bloomberg News, on the subject of climate change, there was a report that prominent Republicans sat down with top White House aides to pitch a revenue-neutral tax on carbon emissions.

It even turns out that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, back when he was CEO of Exxon, endorsed just such a carbon tax in 2009. I found the speech! He even suggested a new name for it to avoid using the word “tax.”

“They can call it a refundable greenhouse gas emissions fee,” he said.

That shocked everybody! Including the industry website Autoline Daily.

“Supporting a carbon tax puts the CEO of Exxon in the same camp as Al Gore and Ralph Nader, and that sure shows just how much this world done gone crazy,” the host said.

So say it with me! Kum-ba-ya.
