Ross: Kamala Harris could be right kind of ruthless for Democrats

Most commenters declared Kamala Harris the winner of last night’s Democratic debate. Why? Because she pounced on Joe Biden for not doing enough as a senator 40 years ago to force busing on school districts that didn’t want to desegregate.

He tried to defend himself, but it was hard standing across from a woman who, as a black child, benefited from busing.

And he knew it. When time ran out, he actually cut himself off!

“My time is up,” exclaimed Biden.

That was just about the only time anyone actually watched the debate clock.

After the debate, Senator Harris was tactful.

“I do not believe he’s a racist,” she reiterated.

When MSNBC’s Chris Matthews asked her if Biden was “finished” after Thursday’s debate, Harris was polite.

“No. I don’t think so,” she responded. “Senator Biden has had a long career of dedicated public service.”

So polite, and so in the past tense.

I saw that and thought that if she’s ruthless enough to do that to Joe Biden — the very embodiment of a “Nice Guy” who, if anything is a little too nice — imagine what she’d do to someone she didn’t like.

I think for Democrats, the idea of forcing Trump stand opposite a trained prosecutor will prove very tempting.

Remember, Trump only threatened to lock up his opponent. You get the feeling that Kamala Harris would actually do it.
